Are you using your Floodlights correctly?

LED Floodlights are the wide-angled lights that can be used both in residential and commercial areas. With a large range of lumen outputs and wattages available, these lights can be used as security lighting, landscape lighting, and outdoor sports venues in addition to stage lighting for concerts and plays.

Are you thinking about why these lights are known as floodlights? So let me tell you that these lights are called floodlights because they emit a uniform flow of light like a flood. These high-intensity lights can illuminate a large area evenly.

But there are some ways that you are using your floodlights in the wrong way. If this is happening, let’s discuss them and find the right way to use these powerful lights.

Installed in a wrong area

The first and the foremost mistake people always make is to install them in the wrong area. Like if you will install a floodlight above your garage, so it will definitely illuminate your garage’s door but it is useless there. Floodlight should be installed in a pathway, parking lot, as security lighting, without any glare or dark spots. It will be very good if you install your floodlights where you have your security cameras or where people will be driving.

You forget to turn your light on and off

This is a problem humans have faced since the discovery of light! We always forget to switch off the lights and many times we even didn’t find the right switch-on time. Well for this, there are two options: Motion sensors and photocell.

You can install motion sensors that will get switched on as soon as it will detect the motion. And will get switched off when there will be no motion. The photocells work with the stimuli of sunlight. So while installing photocells, keep the angle in mind. The photocell will automatically switch on the light with the sunset and will automatically switch off the light with the sunrise. The motion sensor and photocell may not be in-built in the light, so you will have to install them separately.

Using too many lumens

Every bright object doesn’t look beautiful. If your floodlight can light up an entire stadium, you need to reconsider. As a house owner, you don’t need to illuminate your entire yard, instead highlighting your tree; shrub, fountain, or some of your interior décor would be enough. For this purpose, mini LED flood light fixtures will be perfect. Save the large LED flood light fixtures for the sports arena.

So if you are doing any of these mistakes, you are underestimating the quality of a floodlight. These are powerful lights that, if used correctly, can give you premium quality lighting.
